Stark, beautiful landscapes, utter poverty, familial ties and simple stories with big heart are the stuff acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi's films are all about. And for the next month, you'll have the chance to watch some of the accomplished filmmaker's best works every Sunday at a film festival organised by Taj Enlighten Film Society in association with the Iran Culture House.

Majidi's films were a natural choice for the film society, which will also release today a DVD of his most famous film, Children of Heaven. President and founder Pranav Ashar says, "We wanted to familiarise people with his brilliant films." Today, catch Baran at Cinemax in Versova and The Father at Metro Big Cinemas in Marine Lines.

Baran is the story of a girl who dresses as a boy to find work while Father shows a boy who's unhappy with his stepfather.

In The Song of Sparrows (on July 18 at Cinemax and on July 25 at Big Cinemas), Karim is fired from his job at an ostrich farm in Tehran and finds a new job, but also loses himself.

Members get up to 40 per cent off on festivals across the country and access to interactions and workshops. A festival pass for non-members costs for Rs 550.u00a0

At: Cinemax Versova and Metro Big Cinemas in Marine Lines, 10 am
