Bundgarden police have booked three persons, including one Pappu Gaikwad, under sections 324, 325 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the IPC. The incident took place in front of the Infosys building of Sassoon hospital at around 9 pm, after which the victims approached the police station and filed an FIR.
Parking trouble
The incident took place when one of the student's uncles got into an argument with the parking staff over parking charges. "My aunt was admitted in Sassoon Hospital and my uncle Sanjay Bikad had parked his two-wheeler inside the hospital premises.
He had paid the required parking charges, but the contractual workers were demanding more money. When Bikad refused to pay the additional amount, the workers started beating him," said Thombare, one of the victims.
"We rushed to the spot when we got to know about the incident. The workers started beating us with iron rods and chairs. We were all badly injured in the assault," said Survase.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) activists staged a protest, following which the parking contract was terminated by the college yesterday.
MNVS activist Vikrant Bhilare said, "The hospital administration and Bundgarden police were initially not taking this issue seriously. So, along with the nursing course students, MNVS activists staged a protest demanding the arrest of parking contractor Sanjay Somnath Saswadkar."
