IN a bizarre incident, a 33-year-old hotel employee, who had lodged an FIR of molestation at the Safdarjung police station on July 27, threatened this reporter of dire consequences when asked about the matter. The woman, Pramila Singh, is a banquet manager (sales) with hotel Le Meridien.

While threatening this correspondent, she even tried to arrange a conference call with the Commissioner of Police. However, the call was disconnected. Shailash Bharadwaj, a friend of Pramila, who claimed to be a high-ranked employee with a leading media house, also made several threat calls to this reporter, demanding that the story not be published. The woman too claimed she was on good terms with several influential people and continued making calls.
MiD DAY then tried to contact Commissioner Y S Dadwal at his office as well his residence, but without success. Officials posted at his office took a serious note of the matter when the incident of the conference call was reported. They called back at MiD DAY office, assuring proper action in the case.
"We have informed the Safdarjung police station in this respect and the matter will be reported to the Police Commissioner," said an official who called up at the MiD DAY office. Senior police officers of Safdarjung police station said they were yet to be contacted by the Commissioner's office.

Pramila, who reportedly lives in Green Park in south Delhi, had reported to the police that she was attacked by a person who tried to snatch her car when she was on her way home from INA market area. |
