Sixteen-year-old Tiwari and his school friend, Ankit Maheshwari, boarded the bus in the morning to give their board practical exam at the Jain senior secondary school, but could never make it.

Tiwari died on the spot while Ankit got severely injured when the bus tyre suddenly burst, and due to imbalance, collided with a bike.

Ankit in anticipation jumped on the road, receiving multiple fractures in his right hand and injuring his legs. The incident claimed three lives and 24 passengers were hurt near the Metcalfe House bus stop on Ring Road.
"This incident has devastated everyone. Pradeep was one of the brightest students of our school. He was a hard working boy who wanted to become an IPS officer," said Babita Singh, social science teacher, Jain School, Daryaganj.

The parents of Pradeep are yet to recover from the trauma of their son's death. Pradeep's father who has tumor in his neck was admitted at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), had to undergo operation on the same day, even before he could mourn the loss of his studious son.

Ankit's school management took care of his medical expenses as he comes from a humble background.
"I work as a sales man at a small shop in Ram Nagar. I was petrified when I got the news of my son's accident; my earning is not even sufficient for our daily expenses, forget about the treatment. I am indebted to the school authorities for their kind help in providing Rs 13,000 for the operation," said the teary-eyed father, Jitender Maheshwari.

Riyaz, owner of the bus, is absconding along with the driver and the conductor.
A case has been registered under the IPC section of 304A (causing death due to negligence) against the three.
