The minimum temperature in Punjab and increased modestly but cold conditions persisted in several parts, a MeT department official said here today. The temperature rose by up to three notches, but cold conditions have not abated in the states, the official said. In Punjab, Ludhiana registered a low of 8.3C, a notch above the normal.

Patiala recorded a minimum of 9C, while the minimum temperature in Amritsar was at the normal level of 6.2C. Halwara and Faridkot recorded above normal minimum temperatures at 10.7C and 9C respectively. Gurdaspur recorded a low of 6.1C. However, Adampur and Bathinda experienced cold conditions with the minimum temperature settling at 4.9C and 5C respectively.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a low of 7.8C. In Haryana, Bhiwani registered a low of 11.3C, two notches above the normal. Narnaul recorded a low of 8.8C, while the minimum temperature in Rohtak settled at 10.6C. Ambala and Hisar registered a minimum of 8.1C each. However, Karnal experienced a cold night at 6.5C.
