Investigations have revealed that Rehan Pasha (3), believed to have died after falling into a drain, might have been kidnapped. Around 3 pm on Tuesday, Rehan's mother Zubina went to fetch some water from a nearby tank, and found her boy missing. She immediately started looking for him, and called her husband Siddiqui Pasha, after she was unable to find him.
Since there is an open drain in front of Siddiqui's house, everyone suspected that he might have fallen into it. The parents informed the Madivala police, along with the fire and emergency services. But even after looking for hours for the boy, they could not trace him. Now the worried parents suspect that Noorjahan, the boy's step-grandmother, might have kidnapped the boy.
Siddiqui said that Shaukat, his father has two wives, Noorjahan being the second wife. But for the last 10 years, Shoukat has been living with them. Noorjahan had asked Shaukat for his house, which is in Roopen Agrahara, but he had refused. Two months ago, she quarreled with them, following which, the family told her never to come back. She has not been seen since.
PSI M L Purushottam said, "Yesterday they suspected that the boy had fallen in the drain. But now they are suspecting the step-grandmother, so we are searching for her. The missing case has now turned into a kidnapping case."
