Suspects made mistake of switching on their cells for a few minutes, helping cops trace their location in Rajasthan
The alleged murderers of Jayanti Chajed, a jeweller's wife, made the mistake of switching on their mobiles for a few minutes. That gave them away.
After a week-long chase in Rajasthan, the Samarth police station's Detection Branch arrested Bharat Kaluram Gehlot and Bharatkumar Kaluram Ghanshi in connection with the murder. Gehlot was an employee at Nagraj jewellers.
The murder suspects were on the run after killing Chhajed at her house in Shubham building in Rasta Peth on October 6.
The police team reached Gehlot's village in Pardi, Sirohi district, Rajasthan after intercepting his
mobile calls.
"The Maharashtra police vehicle used by the Samarth team and the information about their presence spread like wildfire. Gehlot and his accomplice were changing their location every now and then. But they made a mistake of switching on the cell phones for a few minutes before they switched it off. It was enough for us to know their tower location," said Constable Kadam and Constable Thorat.
The duo was chased for seven days by the team. Bharatkumar Kaluram Ghanshi made a mistake of returning to his sister's place on Tuesday.u00a0 A team led by API Sunil Gaikwad, Sachin Kadam, Ajay Thorat, Ganesh Dalvi, Rajendra Phadatate cornered him there.
"Bharatkumar spilled the beans and said that his accomplice would be going to the Sirohi bus stand on the same day," said API Gaikwad.

Gehlot approached the bus stand as expected and we nabbed him there."
PSI Jagtap said: "The suspects had decamped with jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh. So, they were using private cars to abscond, which made it all the more difficult to trace them"
