A 16-year old girl was repeatedly raped by her father for over three years, till she finally took her classmate into confidence and shared her ordeal.
The two then approached Childline foundation, following which Dahisar police arrested the teenager's father, 45-year-old Satyajeet Chaudhary, on the charges of rape.
Chaudhary, a resident of Laxmi Niwas in Dahisar, works for a private company. Investigations revealed that he would feed his daughter abortion pills, in order to prevent her from conceiving.
Dahisar police confirmed that the victim Mona (name changed) approached the Childline foundation and complained that her father had been repeatedly raping her since 2009.
"Whenever I resisted his advances, he would threaten to throw me out of the house. He would abuse me and thrash me. Finally, I gathered courage and discussed the matter with one of my classmates," said Mona.
Recalling the horrifying ordeal, Mona said that she earlier slept with her 12-year-old sister and her 14-year-old brother, but her father objected to this and forced her to sleep with him in a separate room.
The victim's mother Sangeeta passed away in September 2004, and since then, the three children have been living at the mercy of their father.
"It was my classmate who advised me to call the Childline helpline at 1098, promising that they would help me. I called them up and they encouraged me to lodge the complaint. I was on the verge of committing suicide but my friend consoled me and said that if I died, my father would victimise my younger sister. I had to save her from suffering like I did, and finally gathered the courage and approached Childline," Mona revealed.
Chaudhary was produced before the Bandra court on Sunday, and has been remanded in police custody till June 7.
The cops have sent both the accused and Mona for medical tests to Bhagwati Hospital.
Police Inspector Anil Pawar of the Dahisar police station said, "We have arrested Satyajeet Chaudhary under Sections 376 (rape), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC." u00a0
Chilling similarities
The allegations against the father have similarities to the case of Josef Fritzl. The Austrian family man raped his daughter Elisabeth more than 3,000 times and fathered seven children with her after imprisoning her in a cellar for 24 years at his home in the town of Amstetten. He pleaded guilty to rape, incest, coercion, false imprisonment, enslavement and negligent homicide at his trial in 2009. He is currently serving a life sentence for his crimes, which shocked the world.
