Dr Sonam Kapse started yoga as a hobby,u00a0 but took it up as a profession 10 years ago
'Power yoga' is the buzzword these days for those who want to reduce weight.
Dr Sonam Kapse is an expert in this field and many people wanting to lose weight say they have benefited by attending her classes.
Kapse, who hails from Nashik, says yoga has kept her occupied for 10 years.
She conducts power yoga workshops for business entrepreneurs, besides holding corporate batches for multinationals and influential names in the city. "I have provided specialised training for office health management for employees too," Kapse said.
Her brand of yoga consists of "yoga along with posture correction, diet, health evaluation and health progress mapping."
Initially, Kapse had not taken up yoga as a profession. "I am a dentist by profession and have done my MBA in health care management," said Kapse. Yoga was a passion and she started it as a hobby.
Unique blend
She has worked out a unique blend of several forms of yoga tailored to suit the needs of different individuals.
"Along with the westernised forms like power yoga, fusion yoga, hot yoga and ancient forms like astanga viniyasa, Iyengar yog, Patanjali yog, kriya yog, I also specialise in children's health management through yoga and pranayam," said Kapse, who has a large number of followers in the city.

Businesswoman Preeti Pallod (34) said, "I tried various ways of losing weight, but with Kapse's training, I've got fantastic results and I'm more flexible now." Tejal Shah (29), fashion designer, said she's an addict now. "I enjoy this. Dr Kapse takes extra effort for us," said Shah. "I was down to 60 kg from 88 kg in 90 days. That was three years ago."
Medical help
Kapse is also involved in weight loss workshops for menopausal women and youngsters suffering from polycystic ovarian disorder.
"I am the state's youngest yoga teacher who has delivered lectures at the National Institute of Naturopathy in Pune," said Kapse.
