Here's a reason to bring a sunshine smile on your faces. Your old hot Italian food joint Sunny's now has a new address in a swanky residential area and their must-have Italian menu remains

Here's a reason to bring a sunshine smile on your faces. Your old hot Italian food joint Sunny's now has a new address in a swanky residential area and their must-have Italian menu remains

For precisely fifteen long years, Sunny's made Vittal Mallya Road a must-dine-at address for many city foodies, apart from the many globe trotters, what with its mention in the Lonely Planet and the Frommers Guide, apart from hordes of serious food journals. If that's not it, we must admit along with many effusive Sunny's patrons, like us, we too believe that good food must touch many happy lives and be talked about.

For a man, who's been more than passionate about his food business to the point of waking up at six every morning to handpick the choicest of meats, poultry, fish and veggies from Russell Market; another addition to the city's growing Italian eateries didn't seem surprising.

So, when Arjun Sajnani's (remember the affable theatre actor, director and Bollywood director of Milind Soman starrer film Agni Varsha and the eunuch in Kamasutra?) Sunny's second and spanking new branch sprung up bang in the middle of Indiranagar's 100 Feet Road; we set to soak in its sunshine too.

The new Sunny's to-die-for Italian food and menu remains the same. Thank God for that. What's quite appalling is that the additional new locale in a sleek spacious setting is already seeing a rush of diners, the 'been there, done that' chic crowds.

On weekday afternoon we stopped by the new eatery's inside seating was packed to the brim, leaving only a table or two empty at its small al fresco space owing to a fine, slightly strong sunshine day. Despite its swish setting, it's not too stiff. Our breadbasket was placed, as we called in for Sunny's Golden Fried Prawns (Rs 345) and Stuffed Zucchini Rolls with Tofu (Rs 150) for starters.

The prawns were robust and its zesty bite with the dip left a strident note on our palates. The zucchini rolls teamed with tofu had a sophisticated and fine flavour .

The Black Pepper Fettuccine, Wild Mushrooms, Sun Dried Tomatoes and Cream (Rs 295) has remained Sunny's hot favourite so far and is still cooked to culinary perfection, with mild flavour of pepper blending seamlessly with the tanginess of sun dried tomatoes, and cream and mushrooms lending it the right balance.

For my main course, I also tried the Almond Crusted Fish Fillet with Leeks, Lemon and Cream (Rs 350). The fish was boneless and tender, with the almond crust giving it the required crunch and lemon and cream the right tart.

The best was probably yet to come and it did in the form of a decadent Cheesecake with Blueberry Glaze (Rs 200). A complete divine dessert delight.
