He loves you today, but tomorrow may be another story. Commitment issues within the city's gay community are deterring many from celebrating Valentine's Day, said to be an occasion dedicated to everlasting love.

Puhalan Murthy (name changed) is a journalism student, who is single but is not looking forward to finding a partner on this Valentine's Day.

"I don't see the point as most relationships in our community don't last long," said Puhalan. "You are not legally bound and there is no societal or financial obligation."
Michael Singh, a theatre actor, celebrated last Valentine's Day. He and his partner later broke up. Michael isu00a0 not looking forward to the festival this year. "Most gay men are afraid of commitment.
They consider commitment to be something that is required in heterosexual society," he said.
Kaushik Satish, a content manager, and his partner Raymond, a writer, are newly into a relationship.
They will be celebrating the day by moving in together. "We have not thought about the future," said Kaushik. "After all, we are men, and are as commitment-phobic as heterosexual men."
