A 29-year-old woman and her three-year-old child, who were quarantined at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases here, have tested positive for swine flu, a top health official said.
"A mother-child duo who were quarantined at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases institute here have tested positive. The duo had arrived at Bengaluru airport from New Jersey on June 12," Director of Health and Family Welfare Services Usha Vasunkar told PTI today.
The tests were conducted at the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, where their throat culture samples were sent for analysis. Meanwhile, the other three suspect cases, a couple and a woman, who were also quarantined at the institute have tested negative, she said. So far 23 throat culture samples had been sent to NIV for testing out of which 18 had tested negative, she said.
