December date with Anoushka
In an interview with mid-day in July, singer Anoushka Shankar had announced that she would tour India to promote her new album, Home, later in the year.
Now, the dates for this four-city tour have been confirmed. This diarist learnt that Shankar will perform in the Mumbai on December 12, followed by Delhi (13), Jaipur (15) and Bengaluru (18). Shankar's husband, film director, Joe Wright (Atonement, Pride & Prejudice) and their sons, Zubin and Mohan will accompany the musician on her tour. Tickets are available on Bookmyshow.com.
Ramu's written a book!
We were piqued by the title: âThe Day I called Amitabh Bachchan an idiot and Other Stories of My Life. Ram Gopal Varma is ready with a book that reveals candid musings about his life, his brand of cinema and his world view.
The book by the director of hits like Shiva, Satya, Company and Rangeela promises to offer insight into his often politically incorrect, raw and unconventional approach to Indian cinema. To quote a line from the book, "...the point I'm trying to make is that all my successes were by default and all my failures were by intent..." This should be fun.
When Jackie went shopping in Bandra
dress me up: Bungalow 8 in Bandra had a special visitor who dropped by on Thursday afternoon. Bollywood beauty Jacqueline Fernandez was in a mood for more than just a dekko at the store's annual pop-up held at Pali Village Cafe.
She tried on different fun apparel and jewellery, and going by the frames that this diarist had access to, Jackie (as she is fondly called) seems to have had a blast during a break from her hectic shooting schedules.
Social in Bandra
Another outlet of Social will hit Mumbai next week. After Colaba, Todi Mills and Palladium in Lower Parel, the next outpost is scheduled to open in Bandra.
Social at Palladium
Located at Rohan Plaza, 5th Road, SV Road Khar, (W), this fourth address is near The Daily that reopened recently, complete with amped up interiors that sport a black-and-white vibe, and packed with a tempting food and drinks menu, to match up to stiff competition in the buzzing suburb. We hope that the new space will be as much fun and a tad edgy, like their Colaba and Todi Mill counterparts. With new bars opening in Bandra, before you can blink, all we have to say is, raise the bar!
Museum on Wheels spotted in Thane
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya's ambitious Museum on Wheels made its first pit stop earlier this week by heading to Thane.

The bus stopped at a Pujo Mandal at Mulla Baug on Ghodbunder Road. The stopover saw crowds throng the bus, and caught the fancy of young ones in particular. This image was shared by Bilwa Kulkarni, education officer with CSMVS who guided the visitors through the exhibition on Indus Valley Civilisation. Here's to more such tours across Maharashtra.
