Mumbai gangrape: Survivor identifies four accused

The photojournalist, her colleague recognised the four accused at the Byculla jail during the identification parade yesterday


After positively identifying the minor in the Shakti Mills gang rape, whom the Mumbai police has sent to the remand home, the survivor picked out the remaining four accused in an identification parade yesterday. The identification parade was carried out at the Byculla jail where the photojournalist and her male colleague made the identification before a magistrate.

They identified Vijay Jadhav alias Mannya, Kasim Bangali, Mohammed Saleem Ansari and Siraj Rehman Khan from the line up. The photojournalist had already recognised the minor accused earlier, who was the first to be arrested in the crime from Saat Rasta, Byculla. "We have carried out the identification parade," confirmed Satya Narayan Chaudhary, DCP, Crime Branch. Meanwhile, Unit III of the Crime Branch that is investigating the case of the 19-year-old who was gangraped at Shakti Mills on July 31 is seeking the custody of Jadhav, Bengali and Ansari.
