If ACP Vasant Dhoble's wrath on nightclubs and pubs ended the party for you, independent corporator and BMC's Law Committee chairman Adv Makrand Narvekar's proposal to allow eateries in malls, commercial and non-residential areas to be open all night, if passed, is likely to bring a smile on your face.
Narvekar's proposal was passed in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) house on Saturday. It will be now sent to the State government for final approval. Soon after the proposal was passed by the BMC, Yuva Sena Chief Aditya Thackeray tweeted about the same saying that the civic body has passed the proposal.
According to Narvekar, the BMC should amend its Shop and Establishment Act of 1948, which prohibits shops from staying open after 8.30 pm. Makrand Narvekar, said, "The proposal has been sent to the Municipal Commissioner for his consent. It is alright to shut bars, but since we are a city that never sleeps, why should we shut eateries and curb people from eating out at the night time."

This move is debatable, as it might attract hooligans in the night. On the other hand, it is good for people who travel late in the night and need to grab a bite in emergency

One or two eateries in a particular area being open throughout the night is fine, but if all are allowed to stay open, then it might cause a nuisance to the local residents

This comes as a relief. Many times in the night when I go out, I have to return home hungry
