The Supreme Court has indicated that candidates who appeared for National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) phase I will be allowed to appear for phase II to be conducted in July

Uncertainty continuous to loom over medical aspirants. As the Supreme Court heard the matter again on Monday, it has indicated that candidates who appeared for National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) phase I will be allowed to appear for phase II to be conducted in July.

However, the status of the Common Entrance Tests (CETs) organised by different states individually is yet unclear.

Meanwhile, SC has cleared that all private Institute admissions should be conducted only with the NEET score. This comes as a relief as candidates need not worry of different other entrance tests organised separately by private medical institutions. Moreover SC has indicated that candidates, who have appeared for NEET phase I and who were not allowed earlier to appear for phase II will be allowed to do so. However their score of NEET phase I will be scrapped in that case.

As SC takes time to give its final verdict in the case regarding different state CETs, candidates and parents have crossed their fingers hoping that CET continues to stay at least for this year as the said exam is already over.

Meanwhile, Medical Council of India (MCI) has responded to court that extension to CET only for this year can be allowed.
