In what is being seen as a reconciliation effort, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi met senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L K Advani yesterday, a week after the patriarch quit all party posts following Modi's elevation as the party's campaign committee chief.
He also visited ailing former prime minister and BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee and met senior party leader Murli Manohar Joshi.
Modi, who is on his first visit to Delhi since the BJP's Goa conclave where he was elevated, met Advani at his residence. The meeting lasted nearly an hour.
Sources said during the parley, Modi told Advani to continue as the BJP patriarch and assured him that the party would win the 2014 general elections even without allies. u00a0
