Online forums reply to parents' queries
The city government may have basically washed its hands off the nursery admissions issue, by putting the onus on schools to decide the criteria as long as Right to Education (RTE) is adhered to, but that has not eased the worries of thousands of parents in Delhi.
Now, while the guidelines by the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry for new admission criteria are yet to come, online forums are helping out eager and anxious parents on facebook and twitter.u00a0
u00a0There are posts for parents on facebook, where they can type in their queries and get required information. "How many schools can we apply to? Is there any other distinct criterion for single parents?" read one of the posts by Anuradha Singh, who is a software engineer and a single parent.u00a0
u00a0"I want my daughter to get through to the nearest and also the best school. It is rather confusing whether one can apply to schools only in the neighbourhood or as many at a time. Here I got some kind of guidance on the matter. To my surprise, networking site forums are doing a great job of addressing the issue and reaching out to so many people looking for answers," she told MiD DAY.u00a0
u00a0The online forums on networking sites have micro-blogging facilities, contact details of all the reputed schools, previous years' data and expert help. Parents and school federations have begun to write their posts, suggestions, doubts, fears and hopes on the forum.
