Despite the elections approaching, the movement of private planes in Pune has increased by only five per cent compared to last month

for airspace. Yet surprisingly, the private plane activity in the city has seen a mere five per cent rise compared to last month.
Airport Director G Chandramouli confirmed this and said, "There is only a five per cent increase in the movement of private planes since the elections were announced. If there were 10 private flights last month, this month it is around 12."
This indicates that the netas aren't using private planes to fly to and from the city. According to people, there might be two reasons for the same. One, as the politicians know there is not much they can do to influence voters given the present political scenario in the city.
The other reason seems to be that they are spending their money more carefully given the fact that the Election Commission is keeping a sharp eye on their campaign expenditure.
However, it may be noted that Narendra Modi had visited the city last month followed by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar and R R Patil.
