New chief of Armed Forces Medical Services takes charge

Lt. Gen. B.K. Chopra, senior colonel commandant of the Army Medical Corps, Saturday assumed charge as director general of the Armed Forces Medical Services


New Delhi: Lt. Gen. B.K. Chopra, senior colonel commandant of the Army Medical Corps, Saturday assumed charge as director general of the Armed Forces Medical Services.

Lt. Gen. Chopra, a graduate of Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College in Kanpur, did his post-graduation in surgery and orthopaedics.

He was commissioned in the Army Medical Corps in 1977 and has held various regimental, clinical and staff appointments in the last 37 years in the armed forces.

He has also been appointed honorary surgeon to the president.

Lt. Gen. Chopra took over from Air Marshal D.P. Joshi, who retired Oct 31.
