Nandan Nilekani will steer a scheme for creating a multi-purpose unique identification database of citizens. But what do you really know of one of Karnataka's famous sons?
Of course, the obvious starting place is Wikipedia, followed by Infy's site.
The news of him quitting Infy to take charge as the Chairperson of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) in the rank of Cabinet Minister has been covered widely by international publications, including the WSJ.
International accolades are nothing new for Nilekani, who has been featured in TIME by Vikas Swarup, the author of the book that inspired Slumdog Millionaire and Thomas Friedman, the author of The World Is Flat.
What do you think he can do for India? His book Imagining India: The Idea of a Renewed Nation may hold the answers.
