Food and Civil Supplies department to send list of consumers not in the database to fair price shops and gas agencies with orders not to provide services
The Consumer Affairs and Food and Civil Suppliesu00a0u00a0 department is sticking to its earlier decision not to extend the deadline beyond February 28, since they feel that consumers had been given sufficient time to submit the necessary documents.
Approximately 44 lakh consumers have submitted appropriate documents to the department against 70.7 lakh who have cooking gas connections in the state.
"Now we have started entering data provided by consumers into our database and will complete this process in seven day's time, after which verification will begin. Since this is being done for the first time, we want to be systematic," said BA Harish Gowda, secretary, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
Once the data is processed, the department will release a list of ration card holders and consumers of gas connections who have not submitted their documents. The list will be sent to fair price shops and gas agencies asking them not to provide gas and rations to consumers on the list.
