Not one of the 77 aspirants gets admission at SP College

"We only entertain those students who have original SSC marksheets and school-leaving certificates. In all, 25 junior colleges participated in the admission process and, without any choice, the students accepted the institutes, and they were picked according to their merit," Balasaheb Owhal, assistant director (education), said.

The official clarified that as SP College does not have a single vacant seat, and none of the aspirants merited an admission there, no enrolments took place. After receiving government instructions, centralised admission process (CAP) functionaries organised the special round yesterday.

"Most of the admissions were done at Shivaji Maratha and Jijamata junior colleges, which have plenty unfilled seats. Other colleges have very vacancies. After this round, the whole row created due to attempts of backdoor admission at SP College has ended, and all the so-called student activists have received the right signal," Owhal added.

Out of the 77 ‘illegal' admissions, 7 were done in Science stream, 51 in Commerce (English medium), 7 in Commerce (Marathi), and 2 in Arts
(English). Interestingly, many ‘student activists', who had taken an aggressive stand and made unreasonable demands in the past, maintaining that all 77 students should be admitted to SP College, were also present at the meeting yesterday. However, no one raised a voice or tries to use pressure tactics.

"My daughter secured 76 per cent in SSC, but owing to false promises made by student unions and SP College administration, we have had to suffer a lot. Now, she has got admission in Kalmadi Junior College," said Rajan Naik, one of the parents present. u00a0
