Notice issued to school accused of fleecing underprivileged children

When contacted SV Union Primary School's secretary Nagrajan said, "I am not aware of any such notice. So I don't want to say anything about this."

Youth activist Nilesh Borate says he has been following this issue. "The school has breached the RTE Act and charged around Rs 13,000 from each of the 45 students who were supposed to be admitted free at entry level," he said.

"The education board had provided me admission details of the school through RTI. These papers make it apparent that though the school has shown the board that all the 45 admissions have done under the provision of reserving 25 per cent seats for economically backward class students, the institute has extracted fees from them," Borate added.u00a0
