Kerala man settled in city thrashed by pro-Kannada group for allegedly blackmailing college girl after drugging and photographing her naked
Au00a0footwear shop owner who was allegedly blackmailing a college student after taking nude pictures of her with his mobile phone camera was thrashed by a pro-Kannada organisation before being handed over to the police.
The accused was identified as Mohan Kumar, a native of Kerala settled in Bangalore.
The Chandra Layout police have registered a case against Mohan and are investigating. "We are trying to ascertain, whether he had trapped many other girls," said Police Inspector H R Reddy.
Mohan settled in Bangalore 10 years ago after returning from the UAE. Kumar started Nisha Footwear in Mudalapalya and was popular among the locals. He was well acquainted with local college students who would often visit his shop.
Mohan allegedly drugged a female college student with chloroform during one of her visits to his shop and sexually exploited her.
He then allegedly took nude pictures and videos of her on his mobile phone camera and later started blackmailing her, demanding money to keep quiet about the pictures.
The student, who is from a middle class background, is said to have listened to him for some time.
But one day she decided she had had enough, and stopped visiting him, telling him she was busy with her studies. This allegedly made Mohan send her threatening letters and demanding Rs 50,000 for not publicising the video clips.
The victim finally approached members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and sought help. Local KRV leader R Balaji along with other members supposedly caught Mohan red handed; they thrashed him before handing him over to the police.
