The lump that collapsed was part of a third-floor balcony. Administrative officials and locals have blamed the mishap on rain and age of the structure, which is around 30 years old.
The fire brigade arrived in a matter of minutes and began to evacuate residents. The person who suffered severe head injuries was taken to Ravi hospital where he received 15 stitches. Locals have stated that MBMC had earlier issued notices to tenants concerning the potential danger from the building, but these went unheeded.
