It's his business to make other people's lives secure, but Shiv Kumar himself fell victim to a gang of muggers on Thursday night. The victim was returning home in his Alto with his friend Dev. Shiv had gone to meet Dev's father and greet him on his retirement.

On the way back he was attacked by three persons who were travelling on a scooter and a bike. The assailants robbed him of Rs 22,000 after beating him up with a hockey stick.

"I was on my way home along with Dev. When I had reached near PGDAV College in Nehru Nagar, a man slammed a hockey stick on my car's door. I got off the vehicle to ask him the reason for his actions.

But as soon as I was out of the car, three persons started thrashing me with the hockey stick. Dev rushed to my rescue but he too was beaten up. They robbed me of Rs 22000 which I had in my pocket. While fleeing the spot they abandoned their scooter," said Shiv Kumar.

Local police said they were investigating the matter.
