The 7th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF), which had created a festive mood in the city for past eight days, will be brought to a close today.
The closing ceremony, to be held at Shri Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch, will be attended by Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Union minister for civil aviation Praful Patel, eminent producer-director Subhash Ghai and several dignitaries from the film world, politics and other spheres of society.
Several awards in numerous categories will also be declared at the closing ceremony. The awards include Govt of Maharashtra Prabhat Best International Film (Rs 10 lakh), Govt of Maharashtra Prabhat Best International Director (Rs 5 lakh), Govt of Maharashtra Sant Tukaram Best International Marathi Film (Rs 5 lakh), PIFF Best International Male Actor (Rs 5 lakh), Best International Female Actor (Rs 5 lakh) and Marathi Film Federation's Best Marathi Actor, Best Marathi Director and Best Marathi Screenplay writer (Rs 25,000 each).
Also, Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods International will award fellowship prizes in the Student Film Competition section. The prize money that would be awarded will be $ 2,000 to the Best Student Film, $1,000 each to the Best Student Director, Best Student Screenplay and the Best Student Animation Film.
