Shopkeeper and eight accomplices beat up customers with sticks
The owner of a paan shop near the E-Square multiplex allegedly called over eight of his friends and attacked four customers with hockey sticks and iron bars when they asked him why he was overcharging them by two rupees for a gutkha packet.
The incident took place around 11 pm on Monday. The injured people were identified as Kailas Dadu Khairale (31) from Satara and his friends Ganesh Pawar, Shekhar Chavan and Suraj Solanki. The Chatuhshrungi police booked the paan shop owner Deepak Shinde and his eight accomplices for assaulting the four customers.
Police Inspector Bhimrao Tele from Chatuhshrungi police station said Khairale had come to the city along with his friends to visit his brother's place.
"Shinde gave them the gutkha packet but overcharged them for it. When Khairale and his friends questioned him over this, Shinde got into a dispute with them. Shinde called up his eight friends and they attacked Khairale and the others with hockey sticks, iron bars and baseball bats. Shinde also damaged Khairale's car," said Tele.
