"Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offence and it is not resentful," says the Bible. A new art exhibition, 'Do I Love You,' now goes a step ahead to say how love is also one of the most artistic expressions on earth. A glimpse.
The paintings and sculptures in this series explores the myriad forms of love in all its avatars. The participating artists include Asit Patnaik, Laxman Aelay, Anand Panchal and Dharmender Rathore. Those at sculpture are Adittee Garg and Mj Enas. If the village is the backdrop for the works of Anand Panchal who talks of the love spread around by naked yet happy children, Asit Patnaik chooses relationships as a medium to express the most sacred feeling on earth.
Lady love
For Delhi-based sculptor Adittee Garg who has based her work on marble, the female form is her fantasy. "Love is not only about a man and a woman. It is any feeling that connects two people. I have shown a woman with a child to signify the love between the mother and the child, more so in the wake of the frequent cases of abortion which take place these days," she says.
Another artist, Dharmendra Rathore, highlights the theme of love through his work titled Masks. "The expression on a mask are varied, just like emotions are, in real life. So, I have portrayed an array of emotions, which come together to form a single entity called Love,"u00a0 he signs off.
