Refusing to part with previously robbed booty, ex-con stabs youth to death

In an instance of friendship gone wrong, Ghaus Sharif, a 25-year-old history sheeter, was murdered by his close friend Zaheer last night.

Both were residents of Goripalya and were involved in several cases of robbery and drug peddling.

The duo was also convicted in a robbery case and was sentenced to an imprisonment of three years.

Their relationship soured in jail when Zaheer asked Ghaus to give him a certain percentage of the booty that they had robbed, which the latter refused.

After being released from jail, Zaheer was looking out for an opportunity to kill Ghaus.

He saw his opportunity last night when Ghaus was alone. Around 10 pm, yesterday, Zaheer stabbed him with a butcher's knife and fled from the spot.

Ghaus died on the spot and his body was transferred to Victoria mortuary.

As Zaheer had picked up the knife from Riyaaz's butcher shop, cops have detained him for interrogation.

T Kodandarama, inspector of Jagjeevanram Nagar police station, said, "Both are criminals and were involved in several anti-social activities. After being released from jail, the duo had even started extorting money from people."

Zaheer is still absconding and cops are on the lookout for him. The cops have also registered a case against Zaheer around 1 am.
