Gig cancelled in spite of dry day being called off by government

The state government may have called off the dry day it had announced for today and tomorrow, but a much-anticipated gig that was to happen today will not take place.

No action: Electronic group Jalabee Cartel had to cancel their gig today.

The government had initially announced September 24 and 25 as dry days, but after the Babri Masjid verdict was shifted to September 29, they called it off.

Popular electronic group Jalabee Cartel was to perform today at a popular nightclub in Baner.u00a0"It was a big event but we had to cancel the gig as we wanted to avoid any law and order situation.

Their air tickets and hotel reservations were cancelled," Vishal Gore, Dreamtheatre Entertainment said. "We checked with them soon after we got the message that the dry day was called off but they have already committed themselves to another night club in Delhi. They will come some time in October."
Neil Shah, owner of a nightclub in Koregaon Park said:

"Thankfully it's not a dry day but we are waiting for an official letter from the department. Our business would have been affected in case of a dry day."

The Excise Inspector had sent a circular informing about the cancellation of the dry day last evening.
Chandrakant Shahasane, inspector, state liquor excise said, "We have already forwarded the circular and nightclubs can now have a normal night."

An official organiser of an international gig happening on Sunday said: "We were lucky to plan the show on Sunday. It has not really affected us."
