Unable to bear the agony that comes with dual kidney failure, a 32-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at the JJ Hospital on Sunday night.
Dr. T P Lahane, dean of the state-run hospital, said that the patient, Rafiq Khan, committed suicide by hanging himself in the hospital's bathroom. Dr Lahane added that the staff tried to save the patient by breaking the glass and entering the room, it was too late.
The patient, who was from Buldana district, had been admitted at the hospital on August 1. On Sunday night, at around 10.30 pm, Rafiq requested to go the bathroom. His brother-in-law, who was with him, but he was waiting outside the bathroom when the incident occurred. Rafiq is believed to have used a scarf to hang himself from the bathroom roof, Dr Lahane claimed.
The post-mortem has been conducted and the body handed over to the family.
