Brijesh appeals to the HC over clean chit given to Imtiaz in embezzlement case that he had filed in 1998, while the latter drags former partner to court accusing him of cheatingWhen Brijesh Patel-Imtiaz Ahmed Cricket Academy was set up in 1987, (it was registered as Brijesh Patel Imtiaz Ahmed Sports Foundation, a charitable trust, in 1996) several young aspiring cricketers were trained here.
Former cricketer and President of Imtiaz Ahmed Cricket Academy has filed criminal charges against Brijesh Patel in the capacity of lifetime trustee Brijesh Patel Imtiaz Ahmed Sports Foundation that the duo formed in 1996Among them were the likes of Rahul Dravid and Robin Uttappa who were part of the academy at a point in time.

Close to 800 cricket enthusiasts were trained under the concept of pay and play clinic for the trust to meet expenses and for its maintenance.
But things changed when Brijesh Patel was elevated to the post of secretary of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), prior to which, he had withdrawn from the trust and formed his own academy called Brijesh Patel Cricket Academy.
Simultaneously, Imtiaz formed his own cricket training camp.
The relationship between the former partners soured following this, and things worsened when Imtiaz was charged with financial misappropriation, breach of trust and embezzlement of funds by Patel in 1998.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in the city heard the case only to dismiss it and give Imtiaz a clean chit.
Friend-turned-foe"We were equal trustees. I was fighting this case all this while and now I have been acquitted of all charges, which he had framed against me.

I have now filed criminal charges against Brijesh in the capacity of life time trustee and charged him for cheating and embezzling funds," said Imtiaz. Brijesh appealed in the Karnataka High Court about the acquittal.
When asked the reason why the friends turned foe, Imtiaz said, "Brijesh realised that as long as I remained on the board of directors of trust, he could not collect huge amounts of money through the academy to use for his own personal gain without being under the scanner or being accountable to any person."
When contacted however, Brijesh refused to comment on the matter.
