They wear their white coats and deal with life-and-death on a daily basis. On Doctor's Day, The Guide unearthed an orchestra of medical professionals

What is the price you pay to follow your dreams? I realised that when a talented orchestra of musicians, who are also full-time doctors, dropped by for an three-hour interview. The doctors are part of Let's Act, which stands for Life Enrichment through Science, Arts and Charity Trust.

On board are more than 20 members including cancer surgeons, dentists, radiologists, and Ayurvedic doctors. This orchestra started off in the early 80s and is now a self-sufficient charitable trust. The members passed out from BJ Medical College and went their own way in the field of medicine only to reunite years later in the same jam room.

Every member in this orchestra is a successful doctor and they also have other feathers in their cap. Take Dr Kamlesh Bokil, a cancer surgeon by day, who is also a painter and a rhythm guitarist. Dr Dasmit Singh is a consultant neo-natal and paediatric surgeon who loves the tabla, bongo, congo, drums or the octapad. Dr Tejas Joshi is the backbone of the orchestra as he brings the piano accordian, synthesiser and tabla to the table. This group has a varied range of singers from Dr Chandrakant Athaleye who loves to sing a Kishore Kumar number to Dr Supriya Gadekar, who recently won accolades for Gho Mala Aslaa Hawa's title track. Don't miss your chance to watch them perform live.
