After MiD DAY story, cops give deadline for submission of college panel inquiry report
Two days after MiD DAY reported on an alleged ragging incident that took place in the girls' hostel of an engineering college in Narhe, police officials, who had initially refused to file a complaint, visited the educational institution and demanded a copy of the internal inquiry report.

The incident allegedly took place on Saturday night, around 11.30 pm. A few second-year students entered the room of a couple of first-year students and asked them to sing songs and dance. One of the girls who was allegedly ragged called up her father, and he asked her to take her tormentors' pictures. He went to the police and the college authorities the next day with the evidence, demanding action against the seniors.
The police initially wrote off the incident, but then Superintendent of Police Sandip Karnik intervened and asked for a proper inquiry. Inspector (Crime) Sardar Patil of Haveli police station confirmed a police team had visited the college.
"We are in the process of gathering data and met the college officials. We gave them a deadline of Wednesday late evening to submit a copy of the internal inquiry panel's report into the incident," he said.
S M Katkar, founder-director of Zeal Education Society that runs Dnyanganga College of Engineering and Research, where the alleged ragging took place, denied the incident.
"There wasn't any such thing; I have spoken to the girl and her father. Still, we appointed a three-member committee, but their report that was expected on Wednesday evening hasn't been submitted as the principal was off-duty for personal reasons," he said.
