When she learnt that her son had been taken to the police station, she concocted a story and approached the cops feigning ignorance and alleging that her son had been kidnapped
A local goon's wife, whose son was detained by a police patrol for questioning, resorted to pressure tactics by filing a kidnap case. She however withdrew her complaint when the police released her son. Savitha (name changed), wife of Maleyali Praveen residing in Sampangiram Nagar alleged that her son Mithun was picked up by a cop patrol without valid reason and whisked away.

Behind bars
Her husband, Maleyali Praveen has several criminal cases pending against him in the same police station and was currently cooling his heels in jail, police said. Mithun and his driver Darshan were pushing their vehicle towards a nearby garage as it had broken down, when a patrolling vehicle confronted them thinking that they were vehicle lifters.
On the spot
When Savitha tried to contact her son and the driver, she found that their phones had been switched off. She ventured out and after enquiring with people in the neighbourhood, Savitha discovered that her son and the driver had been taken to the police station. She concocted a story and approached the cops feigning ignorance and alleging that her son had been kidnapped. Mithun and Darshan were released shortly after and Savitha returned to the station stating that she wanted to withdraw the kidnap complaint. Police officers said that this is one of the methods used to exert pressure to prevent the investigating officer from conducting a detailed investigation against suspects.
