Cops deployed at all sensitive locations and roads; checks conducted at hotels and lodges, railway stations and ST bus stands
Inu00a0the backdrop of the recent bomb blasts in Mumbai, the city police are taking all precautions to ensure an incident-free Independence Day today. "The police are alert. Maximum number of police personnel will be deployed in the city. SRPF companies and the Quick Response Team have been deployed at all sensitive locations," Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjeevkumar Singhal said.

The police conducted nakabandis and searches at hotels and lodges to check for suspicious people. "We appeal to citizens to share information about suspicious objects, persons and activities with the Pune Police Control Room," Singhal said.
On any intelligence inputs for Independence Day, he said: "There is no specific input for the city." Police Inspector (Anti-Terrorism Cell) Sunil Tambe said they had conducted combing operations. Besides checks at lodges and hotels, the police have beefed up security at sensitive places, including malls, railway stations, bus stops and temples like the Dagadu Sheth Halwai Temple and the ISKCON temple.
As there is crowding at cinema halls, there are slides creating awareness about suspicious objects. Considering that a blast near a garbage bin had killed eight in Delhi few years ago, special checks are being conducted at public garbage bins in crowded areas like the Pune railway station and ST stands.
