A local court today directed the police to provide security to Malegaon bomb blast accused Sameer Kulkarni while producing him in the court.
The direction was given by Chief Judicial Magistrate Sanjay Singh following a petition by Kulkarni's advocates. Kulkarni is one of the accused in an arson case filed against him in connection with an attack on a church in Jabalpur in September last year.
He is brought here from Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail during court hearing. His advocates pointed out that members of the Chhota Shakeel gang, arrested by the Mumbai Police sometime back, had revealed their plan to attack the main accused of the Malegaon blast Paragya Singh Thakur and her lawyers.
In view of this revelation, they appealed to the court to provide security to their client as well as to them as they too feel threat to their lives.
