For relatives of the patients admitted to Bombay Hospital, it was a harrowing experience. This was because the hospital security didn't let them meet their loved ones due to an electricity outage, which started at 1 pm, and was still not restored till the time of going to press.

Most visitors had to turn back, as they didn't have the necessary gate passes to enter the premises. Rajan Sabunkar, a Nagpada resident, said, "I had come to visit a relative, who is in the ICU. The security personnel refused to let me in because I didn't have a gate pass." Sabunkar left the hospital without seeing his relative at 12.30 am.

In one of the buildings, only one out of five elevators was working, and the scene was repeated in other blocks as well.

On the other hand, another visitor, Yogesh Chauhan, said, "My father underwent an operation, which went off smoothly, thanks to the generators."u00a0

Prakash Salvi, security supervisor, clarified, "We are not allowing all relatives of the patients to enter the hospital for the security reasons. The generators are exclusively being used to keep the lights and fans on, and for the patients. The BEST people have not yet been able to know why the lights have gone."
