While some may ask if prayers have any effect at all, five people who stood for elections in Karnataka as part of the BJP have no doubts concerning the fact that God has answered their prayers.
The five--Janardhana Swamy (Chitradurga), B Y Raghavendra (Shimoga), Gowdar Mallikarjunappa Siddeswara (Davangere), Nalin Kumar Katilu (Mangalore) and Suresh Chanabasappa Angadi (Belgaum)--had jointly performed a maha yagna in Shimoga a few days back, praying for victory. The initiative was spearheaded by Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa's son B Y Raghavendra.
Now that all five have won, they want to perform the maha yagna again as a thanksgiving to God for their victory.
While the BJP will not get to form a government at the Centre this time around, it has met with good success in Karnataka and BS Yeddyurappa is reportedly flying to Shimoga to congratulate his son, who managed to defeat Bangarappa.
