Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda may have been trying hard to cover up for Bangalore Metro's lapse, but the controversies plaguing it seems to be never-ending. With BMRCL allegedly ignoring the local language on its official website for over five years, Kannada language activists are up in arms against its 'apathy'.

allegedly ignoring the use of the Kannada language in its official website
for over five years.
The website that has been up and running since 2006, but still does not have a Kannada version. Responding to these fuming activists, BMRCL now claims that the Kannada site is still under construction.
"Failing to promote the Kannada language will mean failing the Kannadigas of the city. We are ready to take up the fight, if we really have to," said 'Mukhyamantri' Chandru, Chairman of Kannada Development Authority (KDA). Even Kannada Sahitya Parishat has joined in the cause and called for strict enforcement of the Kannada language.
"I will be writing to the chief minister and the BMRCL asking them to expedite the process. Metro is for the people and so the language of the state should be used for their convenience," said R K Nallur Prasad, President, KSP.
However, BMRCL officials said, "The website is under construction in Kannada for smartcard registration and it will be up soon," said BLY Chavan, spokesperson, BMRCL.
