Pune: The much awaited Pune-Daund local train will be finally moving on electrification system after successful trial was carried out on this route last Tuesday. Distance between Pune and Daund is nearly 72km.
During the test trial, engineers found out some technical issues in the flow of electricity. However, the issue was resolved by Tuesday and the train successfully ran on the track. This local train movement between Pune and Daund will be highly beneficial for people residing in Daund, Patas, Kedgaon, Yawat, Urli Devachi, Mundhwa, Hadapsar and Pune. Later, the route of the train will be extended up to Daund-Pune-Lonavala. Railway officers claim that introduction of the train will resolve road traffic and encourage people to take the railway route.
A railway officer said, "Despite the test is successful carried out but on September 29 and 30, such electrified train will be examined by Security department commissioner including the committee which later will sent a letter to railway board to commence it."
