This increase can be attributed to the recent recruitment of 17,000 men across the country of which 650 would become part of the Central Railway.
Of these 650 men, 50 will be given to the Pune division. To strengthen the security further, Pune railway officials have forwarded a proposal to the higher authorities for recruiting 50 home guards.
Speaking to mid-day, Divisional Security Commissioner A K Rai said, "It is impossible to provide adequate security with just 70 RPF personnel, we need 100 more.
With the recruitment of 17,000 RPF constables, we are expecting to get at least 50 men for the Pune railway division, and 50 home guards.
With the increase in manpower, we'll now be able to provide security in the early morning local trains too."
