A female doctor from Pune who just returned from London, got herself admitted to Naidu Hospital as she suspected that she might be suffering from swine flu.
The patientu00a0 has been placed in the quarantine ward and her throat swab has been sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV).
Superintendent of Naidu Hospitalu00a0 for infectious diseases, Dr D V Barathe, said, "She complained of flu-like symptoms so we have admitted her to the quarantine ward only on the basis of suspicion.
"We have examined her blood which is normal. We have taken her throat swab andu00a0 have sent itu00a0 to NIV and we expect to get the report from the institute by Monday," he added.
He said, "Chances of the lady having been infected with swine flu is less likely as she returned from London more than 20 daysu00a0 back. But still since sheu00a0 seemed to be suffering from viral infection so we have admitted her to the quarantine ward."
Doctors at the Naidu hospital however refused to divulge the name of the patient saying it would not be proper to reveal anything about her till we get the report from the NIV.
