A 38-year-old woman employee of an IT major committed suicide by jumping off the seventh floor of the office building yesterday.
The woman - identified as Archana Dasar - reported for duty at 10 am. After greeting her colleagues, she went to the top floor and took the extreme step. Dasar was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on admission. According to her autopsy report, the 38-year-old died of multiple injuries.
Police said they did not recover any suicide note. "The deceased was working with the company since the past four years. After having a casual conversation with her friends, she went to the terrace and committed suicide," said ACP Prakash Gharge.
He added that the police have checked the CCTV footage of the office. "She was seen entering the elevator. As she was alone in the elevator and also on the terrace, there's no chance of anybody's involvement in the case," Gharge said.
According to the police, there was no security on the terrace and employees used that area as a smoking zone. Speaking to MiD DAY, a police official, said, "A lot of broken chairs were kept on the terrace. She might have used one of those chairs to climb the terrace wall."
Meanwhile police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the reason behind her act. The deceased is survived by her husband, who also works with a reputed IT company, and two kids - a son and a daughter - of 10 and seven years respectively.
