Those who had come to give test for securing learner’s licence claim they were made to wait for hours before officials conducted tests manually; RTO claims delay occurred as the bulb inside the main projector went kaput

Officials of the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) had to face the ire of over 400 applicants, who had come to give tests for securing learner's licence, after they were made to wait for hours. The reason for this delay was a glitch in the projector installed inside the main testing room, following which the driving test was conducted manually.

Switching to manual mode: Applicants wait for their turn to give the learner's licence test after the projector inside the test room malfunctioned

Aman Shaikh, a student, said, "I have completed all the necessary paperwork before applying for a learner's license in the morning. But it's been two hours since I've been waiting in the queue for my turn to give the test. We've been informed that the system has collapsed and it will take a while before it is operational."

Another applicant Deepak Vori said, "The management at the RTO is not up to the mark. I'm here since 10 am and still waiting. I avoided agents and did the entire paperwork myself, but the system failure has wasted my entire day."

Commenting on the system failure Deputy Regional Transport Officer Anil Valiv said, "The projector malfunctioned after its bulb went off. It was rushed for repair work.

We have now installed an additional projector, so that the public time isn't wasted. The system will be regularised from tomorrow and applicants will be issued learners' licence after passing the driving test through this projector."
