Student of Shyam Lal College accuses two senior boys of ragging him, making lewd comments
Ragging has reared its ugly head at Delhi University again.
A First-Year Bachelor of Arts student at Shyam Lal College, Delhi University, has accused his seniors of ragging him and making vulgar remarks. In a police complaint filed at Shahdara Police Station the victim, Mohammad Naved, has alleged two of his seniors tried to rag him while he was going to the washroom on Thursday.
No FIR has been filed in this matter.

A lesson in cruelty: Despite strict rules, Delhi University has witnessed several cases of ragging in its collges this year |
The police said at around 11 am, Naved, a resident of Ghaziabad, was summoned by two of his seniors and asked to sing and dance. When he refused to do so, the duo allegedly started beating him up and also tried to open his pants. In the scuffle, Naved reportedly received minor injuries on his head and eyes.
Rohan Narang (name changed), another First Year BA student and an eyewitness, said, "I was standing barely 20 metres away from the spot where the two Second Year students were beating Naved up. There was a crowd of 20 to 30 students witnessing the incident. But none of them protested. Later, some of the staff members of the college intervened," said Narang.
The victim was taken to GTB Hospital where he was discharged after first-aid.
When the principal of the college, Dr MK Rajdan, was contacted, he refused to comment. "A police complaint has been registered and action will be taken only after the police come to a conclusion."
Police officials too refused to divulge any information about the two students against whom the complaint was registered. Sources in the police said, cops feel it is a case of rivalry and not ragging. "As per our investigations, Naved used to become extra friendly with Second Year girl students which the two seniors did not like. Today, on finding him alone outside the toilet, both of them started beating him up," said a senior police official, wishing anonymity.
The incident comes barely a few days after two students were expelled and another rusticated from Kirori Mal College for allegedly ragging a junior at the hostel.
