The Pune railway police have arrested two men, who they said used to befriend unsuspecting passengers on trains and drug them by offering them biscuits laced with sedatives. Jewellery and cash worth Rs 1.8 lakh was recovered from them.
The two suspects were identified as Nareshkumar Shankar Sahani (21) and Rajkumar Shrikrishna Sahani (24), both residents of Chhitwani, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The arrest was made by senior PI Mahendra Rokade his assistant PI Mahendra Bagade and their staff. Both were booked under section 328 (use of tranquilizer in the crime) of the IPC.u00a0 The suspects were taken to their native place in Uttar Pradesh for further investigation Bagade told this reporter on telephone. He said the duo had hidden the booty in their homes. Bagade suspect at least three more persons were involved in the crime. At least five persons have been swindled by this gang at the Pune railway station, said Bagade. The two were arrested following complaints by Yogesh Kamble, a resident of Bijlinagar at Chinchwad. He was trapped near a tea stall in the vicinity of the railway station two days ago, he said.
