Heavy downpour for more than four hours causes wall collapse and bus to get trapped in water for over two hours
Incessant rainfall since 9.30 pm in the city has wreaked utter havoc. Roads are waterlogged and the Disaster Management was called in when four bodies were recovered, two people went missing and a bus full of 30 people was rescued.

The PMC fire brigade at Eklavya College, near Mahatma Society, Kothrud, recovered four dead bodies. Fire brigade official Neelesh Mahajan and Gajanan Patrudkar told MiD DAY that the four deaths caused by the wall collapse were Devand Gopal (35), wife Beena Gopal (28) and two one-year-old children Khushbu Verman and Bhupendra.

"The compound wall collapsed on the huts, which caused many of the huts to wash away," informed Subhash Jadhav, fireman, Kothrud division. "A similar calamity has taken place at Pashan," he added.
Ganesh Sonawane, Head of Disaster Management, PMC said that a woman and her son were lost at Vidhate Vasti in Pashan.
While at Warje, fire brigade officials rescued 30 company men, who were stuck in the bus near Warje Bridge for over two hours.u00a0 Reportedly, the fire brigade received over 30 frantic calls about storm water entering the city causing problems in traffic and even housing societies at many places.
Sunil Jalgir, an engineer, who was stuck up 30 others made a call to the fire brigade and the rescue operation continued for two hours. "It was tough for us," said fire officers Gajanan Patrudkar and Neelesh Mahajan.

Storm water entered Ghole Road, Shivaji school at Aundh, Meenatai Thackery Garden at Gultekdi, Bhonde Colony, Karve Road, Maratha Mandir Bavdhan, Bhujbal Township and Kubera Park in Kothrud, Aasawari Apartment- Paud Road were all affected by the incessant rainfall.
